King Born in Manger

Matthew 1: 18-25, Luke 2: 1-20

Joseph who was a carpenter now became very stressful as the women whom he loved became pregnant and expected to deliver a baby. Which was not his child. He has not married yet. There were lots of rumors about him and it came to the point that he might break his engagement. But late that night he had a dream and in that dream angel of God said to him,

“Joseph son of David, fear not to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a son, and give him the name Jesus because he will save people from their sins.”

When Joseph got up from sleep he felt very relaxed and all the stress he had gone. Now he didn’t care about other people what they speak of. But he decided to get married to Mary and accept the child. Later after sometimes Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world. Caesar Augustus wanted to keep the records and name of all those who pay tax. So Joseph who was from the line of David had to travel to Jerusalem. He along with Mary kept all their food and cloth on donkey started toward Jerusalem to register their names.

When they reached Bethlehem Mary was too tired and there was no place to stay for them also.  All the inns were already filled with people. The owner of the inn felt pity for Mary but he was also helpless and couldn’t do much. Stable was the only place that was empty which was filled with the smell of animals. But the place was good to take rest at least as there was no other place available.

That night son of Mary was born to whom she wrapped in a warm cloth and put him in a manger near the sheep. And there were shepherds in the nearby fields, watching over their flocks at night. An angel of the God appeared to them, and the glory of the God shone around them, and they were frightened. But the angel said to them, not too afraid. Bring you the good news that will bring great joy to all the people. A Savior has been born to you in the town of David today; he is the Messiah, the God. The sign to you: You will find a baby lying in a manger and wrapped in cloths.” Then shepherds saw, angel, praising God and saying, praising God of heaven, and on earth peace, good pleasure in men.
When angels had left the place the shepherds said to one another, “Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.” So they rushed off and found Mary and Joseph and the baby, who was lying in the manger. Then they believed that what angel of God said to them was true.

They shared what they saw and heard to Mary and Joseph. While the shepherds were returning they shared about Jesus to everyone. They glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told.
